Close encounters! Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Guillermo Del Toro unite for a blockbuster dinner date with their wives as they dine out at Scott’s

It’s rare to see one Hollywood great dining out at your local restaurant, but patrons at London fish restaurant Scott’s were treated to no less than three on Monday evening.

The Mayfair venue – a popular destination for visiting celebrities – welcomed Oscar-winner Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Guillermo Del Toro along with their respective wives as they enjoyed an evening meal in the English capital.

Hanks, accompanied by wife Rita Wilson, appeared to be in high spirits as he chatted to the two iconic directors outside the popular establishment.

The actor, 66, already has a long standing association with Spielberg, 76, having previously worked with the filmmaker on his 1998 war epic Saving Private Ryan, 2002 biopic Catch Me If You Can and the 2015 historical drama Bridge Of Spies.

The director was joined by actress wife Kate Capshaw, who he met while developing a cast list for Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom – in which she subsequently took a starring role – in 1984.

Making up the group, celebrated Mexican filmmaker Del Toro, 58 – best known for Oscar-winning 2017 blockbuster The Shape Of Water – was dining out with second wife Kim Morgan.

The friends were seen chatting close to the restaurant’s outdoor patio before embracing and making their way home, with Hanks and Wilson sliding into the rear of a waiting car.

Hanks was dining out after watching Aston Villa take on Arsenal at Villa Park on Thursday, with the latter taking the win as the game ended on a 2-4 result.

The Hollywood actor and vocal Aston Villa supporter was left devastated with the Premier League game result as he looked on from the Directors’ Box.

Sporting a navy quarter-zip over a white shirt and burgundy tie, it appears to be the first time that the Forrest Gump star has visited the stadium.

Overjoyed, the actor clapped and beamed out to the pitch with glee as the score was made.

Things evened out when Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka scored in the 16th minute, taking the score to 1-1.

Aston Villa came back with a score in the 31st minute, but were let down when Arsenal went on to bag three more at the tail end of the nail-biting game.

Hanks couldn’t hide his emotions as he hoped for the win in the first half, before suffering the loss later on.

Holding one arm up to wave, he even got his phone out to film and take snaps of the game as he watched first hand.

Ahead of the game, the actor spent some time with the players as he headed into the changing rooms – with the team tweeting out: ‘It’s a pleasure to have you with us at Villa Park @tomhanks’.

California-born Tom has expressed his love for Birmingham team Aston Villa for a number of years, with his connection to the club thought to have began in 2008.
